Ageing hands – Cannes & Nice | Dr. Victor Médard de Chardon
The hands are as exposed as your face during your professional and social life. Hand rejuvenation is performed with the aid of several techniques, which may be combined: restoration of volume (injection of reticulated hyaluronic acid, injection of fat, injection of Radiesse), improvement in the quality of the skin of the hands using mesotherapy, treatment of brown spots (laser, cryotherapy, TCA chemical peel).
AGEING OF THE HANDS
What are the causes of ageing of the hands?
The causes of ageing of the hands are endogenous (natural ageing due to our "biological clock") and the menopause) and aggravated by exogenous factors (sun, smoking, alcohol and pollution.)
What are the clinical signs of ageing of the hands?
Signs of ageing in the hands are essentially manifested on the back of the hands.
- Ageing of the skin: the skin becomes thinner, thus leaving veins visible, the skin becomes crepey-looking with the appearance of brown spots then, subsequently, senile purpura
- Ageing of the fat due to a breakdown in the fatty tissue of the hands
- Muscular ageing due to a breakdown in the muscles in the hands
Therefore, the hands gradually lose volume, leaving the veins, bony and tendinous reliefs visible, which are all the signs of aged hands.
HAND REJUVENATION
RESTORATION OF VOLUME AND TREATMENT OF WRINKLES OF THE HANDS
Lipostructure (lipofilling)
This concerns an injection of fat cells performed using the Coleman technique and modernised by harvesting micro fat cells, the use of micro-cannulas and the addition of growth factors which improve the uptake of the graft. Fat injections in the hands are performed at the Hôpital Privé Cannes Oxford, as an out-patient procedure, under locoregional anaesthetic. The benefits of lipostructure are a definitive result, an excellent tolerance because it concerns an autologous product (from the patient themselves) and a reduction in the visibility of veins in the hands. Further information: Injection of fat
Reticulated hyaluronic acid injection
Injections of hyaluronic acid in the hands are performed at the aesthetic surgery clinic Eden Palace 145 rue d’Antibes in Cannes, with the aid of cannulas, under local anaesthetic. This concerns a resorbable product (lifespan of around 12 months) and which has an excellent tolerance. Further information: Hyaluronic acid injection
Radiesse injection
Radiesse is a filler containing calcium hydroxylapatite crystals (Radiesse). Radiesse injections in the hands are performed at the Dr. Médard de Chardon's clinic in Cannes, with the aid of blunt cannulas, under local anaesthetic. Radiesse is a resorbable product (lifespan of around 12 months) and which is very well tolerated.
IMPROVEMENT OF THE SKIN OF THE HANDS USING MESOTHERAPY
What is mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is a technique for stimulating the skin using injections of free hyaluronic acid, vitamins and mineral nutrients.
What are the effects of mesotherapy on the hands?
Mesotherapy does not create any additional volume. The free hyaluronic acid is reabsorbed within a few days. However, the free hyaluronic acid promotes the hydration of the skin of the hands and stimulates the deepest layers of the skin through the synthesis of elastin, collagen and endogenous hyaluronic acid. It can also be used as an enhancer to maintain hands that have the appearance of "ageing well".
How often are mesotherapy – skin booster sessions required?
You will need repeat injections of hyaluronic acid but the frequency depends on the product used.
TREATMENT OF AGE SPOTS ON THE HANDS
The treatment of age spots on the hands can be performed using CO2, a TCA chemical peel or cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen).
